Bar Association Celebrates 125th Anniversary with Charity Gala
Exactly 125 years to the day from the date its charter was recorded at the Courthouse, the Washington County Bar Association will celebrate with a Charity Gala. The event will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017, at the Washington County Courthouse, and will feature a roving feast, a Passing of the Gavel from the most senior past President to the incoming President, and musical entertainment throughout the courthouse. The event will also serve as the kick-off for a fundraising campaign to benefit the Washignton County Bar Foundation.
The Bar Association's goal is to raise $125,000 for the Bar Foundation over the next three-years -- "$125k for our 125th." The campaign will "Raise the Bar" for support of the Bar Foundation's many projects and organizations in the county, from new computer systems for large community agencies, to a children’s library in the juvenile court waiting area. Created in 1989 to serve as the charitable arm of the Bar Association, it provides law-related grants that enable access to justice for the poor, programs that inform citizens of their rights and responsibilities under the law, and scholarships to help educate the next generation.
Over just the past 10 years, the Bar Foundation has raised – and given away – nearly a half-million dollars. As a 501c3 charitable organization, it accepts donations from a variety of sources including individuals, corporations, friends of the legal community and Bar Association members. Because the Bar Association covers nearly all of the Foundation's administrative costs, all funds donated directly support the Foundation's mission.
Tickets to the Bar Association's Oct. 20 Charity Gala are $125 per person. For information, please email email@example.com, call 724-225-6710 or download the campaign materials. To register online after September 1, visit www.washcobar.org/gala.
